A BBC correspondent in the Libyan city of Benghazi says aid arriving in the country doesn't appear to be anywhere near the volume of support needed to help those caught up in the flooding.

There are two issues, really.

One is the fractured and fraught political situation here in Libya, which makes international aid getting into the country very difficult and has historically.

And then the other is just the logistics of getting along the long coastal road, which has been washed away in places.

All of those things combined mean that those survivors without homes or living in damaged buildings, who are facing a very real risk of disease, who in many cases don't have clean water, are really waiting for something and somebody to help them survive these elements.
