Mike Pompeo, the American secretary of state, has declared that sanctions on North Korea will continue to be enforced until that country totally rid itself of nuclear weapons. He was speaking in Seoul after talks with his South Korean and Japanese counterparts. Reports from the Yemeni port of Hodeida say forces loyal to the government have reached the area around the airport as the Saudi led coalition continues its offensive. Coalition war planes have carried out air strikes on Houthi rebel positions, but the rebels say they won't give up one inch of the city. The tech giant Apple says it's boasting protective mechanisms to prevent efforts to unlock its iphones and ipads without legal authorization. Law enforcement agencies say it's sometimes necessary to breach the locks so crimes can be more easily solved. A verdict is due today at the trial in Hungary of 14 men accused to be responsible for the death of 71 migrants in the sealed lorry in August 2015.
