1.agreeable adj.惬意的;爽快的;易相处的;适宜的，适合的
【记】来自agree(v.同意)

2.faith n.信任，信念;信仰，信条；诚意，忠诚

【例】have faith in There are plenty of people who have faith in a god.
许多人相信神。
【派】faithful（adj.守信的，忠诚的，忠实的）；faithfully (adv.忠实地,(书信结尾的客套语)谨启）

3.spray n.水雾，水花,浪花；喷液；喷雾器 v．喷，喷洒

【例】Police used tear gas.pepper spnry and rubber bullets to disperse crowds.
警察用催泪瓦斯、胡椒喷雾和橡皮子弹驱散人群。

4.familiar adj.熟悉的，通晓的；无拘束的，随便的，亲近的

【例】be familiar with As poultry farms in Europe face bird flu for the first time,Vietnamese farmers are only too familiar with the disease.
当欧洲的家禽农场首次面临禽流感时，越南的农民们对这种疾病已经再熟悉不过了。

【用】注意familiar to与familiar with的区别：前者指因见得多了或听得多了而对某人、某事很熟悉；后者指对某搴物熟悉而精通。
【派】familiarity(n.熟悉，知晓)；familiarize(vt.使熟悉，使通晓)

5.hereditary adj.遗传的，世代相传的;继承的，世袭的

【记】词根记忆：her(继承人)+edit+ary(…的)--继承的
【例】The man was diagnosed with hereditary heart disease.
这个人被诊断患有遗传性心脏病。

6.guarantee n.保证，保证书 v．保证，担保

【例】Sellers should provide a guarantee of high quality for the products and services.
售货商应该为商品和服务的高质量提供保障。
【用】作动词时，guarantee后可直接跟名词，表示“保证…”；另有一固定用法stand guarantee for sb.，表示“替某人担保”。

7.stall n．摊位：畜舍，厩；戏院正厅的前排座位 v.（指引擎因动力不足而）停止转动；拖延，支吾

【记】词根记忆：sta(站立)+ll（像两根柱子）一靠两根柱子撑着一摊位
【例】Edmund had taken up a book from the stall, and there he stood,reading away, as hard as if he were in his elbow-chair, in his own study.

8.picturesque dj.似画的，迷人的；（语言）生动的，形象的

【例】Place-names may be picturesque, even poetical; or they may be pedestrian, even trivial．
地名可能优美如画卷，甚至充满诗意，或许也可能通俗无义。( 2000)
You can take in the prcturesque canal house architecture: The rows of neat, narrow four-story dwellings of brownstone with large windows are well worth seeing.
你可以欣赏风景如画的运河住宅建筑：一排排整洁而狭窄的四层赤褐色砂石住宅，装有大大的窗子，非常值得一看。( 2008)
