Task 1
  If a foreign friend is going to visit your hometown and doesn't know what to pack, what suggestions do you have for him?
  分析:这道题目实际上是一道地点题目和建议题目的结合,给朋友提出的建议要结合自己家乡的特点。比较好入手的方面就是从家乡的自然特征方面思考(地理位置,气候特征等),另一个可以思考的角度就是自己家乡的人文特征(名胜古迹,风味小吃,风土人情等)比如:
  1. 穿着方面,根据气候条件的不同建议朋友穿戴不同的衣物。
  2. 游览名胜古迹,会考虑携带地图,照相机等。
  Sample Answer:
  I have two suggestions to give my foreign friend to visit Beijing. At first, he'd better bring a nice warm winter jacket. Because Beijing is located in the North part of China,there is a large temperature difference in winter, and the lowest temperature could be around 0 degree Celsius. He might get cold without warm clothes. Also, anther necessary thing I will recommend is a traveller guidebook called Lonely Planet. This book contains all kinds of information in Beijing, especially for backpackers. So he can use the book to check the famous scenic spots, like the Great Wall, the Forbidden City or the Summer Palace. He won't need to worry about whether he could figure out the bus lines around the city or not, coz the map is shown in that book as well.
  Task 2
  Some teachers let students choose topics that interest them on research papers. Others assign topics on research papers. Which one do you prefer?
  分析:这道题目和学生的学习联系紧密,是比较好联想和带入自己的实际经历的。写研究报告或是论文的场景在托福听力场景中也比较常见,大家也可以借鉴其中出现的好的表达或思路。下面会从同意和不同意两个角度为大家提供一些思路:
  Agree:
  1. 学生的积极性会更高,因为感兴趣。
  2. 每个人的主题都不一样,可以相互学习。
  3. 老师也会从学生不同的选择中获得启发。
  Disagree:
  1. 老师选择的主题一定是有代表性的,是能让学生巩固学到知识的。
  2. 一样的主题方便学生进行小组的讨论。
  Sample Answer:
  In my opinion, it is better to let students choose the research topics by themselves. To begin with, students would be more motivated if they can choose their own topics. Interest is the best teacher. I mean students will be more likely to look for information they are interested in online and feel active to focus on finishing the paper. What's more, each student's research topic can be different, which means they can always learn from other people who have different perspectives. By doing group discussions or class presentation, students can definitely expand their horizons or maybe reinforce their own understanding of the knowledge. So I think deciding which topic to write about all by ourselves is much more interesting then just listening to the teacher's opinion.
  Task 3
  Reading:suggest the university to create a special website for student musicians.
  1. It is easier to get in touch with people who share the same interests with them.
  2. It will be convenient to post information about concerts and events.
  Listening: the woman agrees with it.
  1. Her band misses a drummer, and it would be easier for them to find one with a website like this.
  2. This website can help people keep tracking the information about music-related events on campus.
  这道题目的阅读部分是一封学生的proposal,大家要注意和school announcement进行区分。提到了社交网络平台website和特定的学生群体student musician。可以根据网络本身方便,快速的特点,大胆预测后文会提及沟通,保持联系,发布信息,及时更新等相关内容。因为学生的群体适合音乐相关,要注意可能涉及到的单词,如musician,concert, band, drummer等。
  Task 4
  Signal Redundancy 信号冗余度
  Definition:Signal redundancy means animals will send the same message with different types of signals to inform other animals of the same species.
  Listening: Deer
  1. Raise its tail as a signal to alert the other deer when it sees a predator, like lions.
  2. Also stomp on the ground to make noise to inform other deer.
  冗余度这个概念来自于计算机学,通俗的讲就是数据的重复度,也就是从安全的角度考虑多余的一个量。这里引申入了动物行为学,就变成动物们多做出了某一种行为来保证自己的安全。也就是这里提到的定义“动物会使用不同的信号向他们的同类传递不同的信息”。
  Task 5
  Problem: The woman got injured but her basketball game is coming up.
  Solutions:
  1. Take a rest till her gets better.
  2. Join the game anyway.
  这是一道涉及到“学校活动”的对话。这类题目中有两种活动特别受欢迎,容易考到,大家要注意,一个是concert,一个就是basketball game。对话的主人公如果是活动的参与者,那么大家还要重点关注两个身体部分wrist(手腕),ankle(脚踝)。他们很有可能会因为伤痛而无法参加活动,就类似于今天出现的这道题目。这种时候可能出现的解决方案一就是自己坚持参加,方案二就可能是放弃或是找其他人代替等。
  Task 6
  这道题目提及历史话题:早期人类使用火的2个好处。Two advantages fire brought for early humans.
  1. 为打猎服务,尤其是在制造工具方面。Increase the efficiency of hunting.
  2. 烹饪熟食。Improve the early human's diet.
  听力的过程中要注意一些词汇: efficiency, stone tools, blade, diet, raw, digest等。总结lecture题目的时候也要关注到原文是否使用了过去时态。
