Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Movies and television have more negative effects than positive effects on the way young people behave.
  托福写作范文:
This is a topic that has become widely discussed recently, and especially is a big concern for people from an “older” generation. Honestly speaking I could not disagree more with this statement, mostly because I personally have grown up watching a lot of movies and television. Even though I was raised in front of the television, I have never done anything illegal and most of my friends consider me to be one of the more polite guys in our social circles. 必背句子1
From my perspective, it isn't the movies or television shows that are having a negative effect on how young people behave, but rather a lack of general education due to negligence. To illustrate, if a child is watching a lot of violent movies before the child is capable of distinguishing right from wrong, it is clearly not the movie's fault. If the parents of the child had more time to monitor what their child was watching, the child would not be in that environment from the beginning, thus canceling out any possible negative effects the movie potentially could have given the child. 必背句子2
Now let's turn this scenario around. When I was a child my parents allowed me to watch pretty much anything I wanted to, and that was undoubtedly because they felt I could tell right from wrong. All of the video tapes in our home had been recorded or bought by them, so they had a good idea of what I could be watching. When I watched a scary movie I knew clearly that it was just a movie, so even if I was shaking in my boots out of fear 非常恐惧while watching it, I wouldn't be feeling the effect of it afterwards.
After I reached my mid-teens I started enjoying more movies and television shows with friends, especially recommending them to watch my favorite anime shows. Most of them involved sports of some kind, including a board game called Go, but some of them were violent action movies with a lot of fighting and blood. To no one's surprise some of my friends started to practice playing Go, football or other sports, and no one started to pick fights挑衅 in school.
All things considered, as I have stated above I really don't think that movies and television shows have more negative effects than positive effects on young people, however, there will always be cases where children “try to fly” because they saw someone do it in a movie, or a child picking a fight because he learned a new karate move from a movie. To prevent situations like that from happening, I believe that the solution is supervision until the child can tell right from wrong. 必背段落(465words)
