一根柱子的倒塌
"I pioneered the research that led to building this plantation

and I will not leave it because of any accusations of plagiarism.

Those people should instead be exposed for their piracy of my work!

They're using false documents to make their attack plausible!"

With those final words the plantation owner threw the plates from his table
说完这最后几个字， 种植园主摔了 桌上的盘子，
and tied himself to one of the pillars of his home.
把自己绑到了家里的一 根柱子上。
"Oh, stop with the platitudes!" said his wife.
"噢，别再说那些陈词 滥调了!"他妻子说道，
"Even the press know it's just a plot to irritate you.
"就连新闻界都知道 这只是一个使你 发火的阴谋。
They just want a platform to say what they want to say!"
他们只不过需要一个 讲台来说他们 想说的东西!"
"But it's working!" the owner howled back.
"但他们的阴谋成功 了!"种植园主吼着回答 道，
"You don't understand! It's not your plight!
"你不明白!这又 不是你的困境!
My reputation has reached a plateau in the eyes of the public
在公众眼里，我的名气 已经达到了稳定水平了
and now everyone can throw accusations!"
现在每个人都可以 随便指责我!"
Just then the pillar that the owner was tied to pitched forward,
就在这时种植园主 绑着的那根柱子 突然向前倾斜，
he pivoted to see what was happening
他忙转身去看 发生了什么事情，
just in time to get out from under the pillar as it fell to the ground.
就在柱子倒地之前他 刚好从下面出来了。
"See, even my own home doesn't respect me anymore!"

He said as he got up, wiping plastic pieces from his body.
他一边站起来一边说道 拍掉身上的塑料片。
But his wife was laughing.
但他的妻子笑了起来。
"Oh, honey, it's as plain as day to me that this is just a bump in the road."

"Okay, but when we're poor and homeless,

we'll be able to pinpoint this as the turning point!
