Diversity Of Tourists Enjoy Golden Week Holiday

Saturday is the second last day of China's weeklong National Day holiday. Reports from the National Tourism Administration indicate that while traveler numbers remain high, China's tourist industry is now seeing a diversity of tourists. Our reporter Xiaoyu has more.

Culture-oriented trips have been heavily promoted in recent years, especially in big cities like Beijing.

The capital's Qianmen Street, renowned for its historic and cultural flavor, has had more visitors this year than ever before. Visitors continue to queue up at the front of restaurants which serve traditional snacks.

Here is a manager in one of the restaurants.

"It's impossible to get a table here at this time. For the second day straight, we have served over one thousand, five hundred diners a day."

At the same time, industrial tours are becoming popular with some tourists. By joining guided tours at factories and plants, they can learn interesting facts about how ordinary things in their daily lives are made.

Also on a positive note, China's quake-hit areas are resuming their tourist industries.

Traditional attractions such as Dujiangyan and Qingcheng Mountain, in the quake-hit Sichuan Province, have been re-opened to visitors.

The recent successful hosting of the Beijing Olympic Games has turned the city's Olympic venues into new tourist destinations.

For those who missed the opportunity to watch events in the National Stadium during the Olympics, tours are now available.

A tourist shares her feelings in front of the Bird's Nest,

"I am so thrilled to be here. The Olympics were such a great event, and the Bird's Nest seemed such a grand building on TV. I felt I had to see the place for real. And here I am."

Besides the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube, Olympic venues in co-host cities have also been receiving enthusiastic visitors from around the country during the golden week holiday.
