The U.S. Treasury Department has warned of new economic sanctions against Iran.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen made the announcement on Tuesday during a news conference on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank spring meetings in Washington.

Yellen emphasized that she "fully expects" additional sanctions against Tehran to be implemented within the coming days.
