A hungry Fox saw some fine bunches of Grapes hanging from a vine that was trained along a high trellis,

一只饥饿的狐狸看到高高的葡萄架上挂着几串看起来很好吃的葡萄,

and did his best to reach them by jumping as high as he could into the air.

他用尽力气跳高,想要摘下它们。

But it was all in vain, for they were just out of reach;

但这一切都是徒劳的,因为它总是够不着那几串葡萄;

so he gave up trying, and walked away with an air of dignity and unconcern, remarking,

所以他放弃了尝试,带着骄傲和不屑的神气走开了,说道:

"I thought those Grapes were ripe, but I see now they are quite sour."

“我原以为那些葡萄应该成熟了,但现在依我看它们还酸着呢。”
