Yuan Bingyan, also known as Crystal Yuan, is known for many of her popular dramas like "Love and Redemption", and more recently "My Sassy Princess".Media outlets recently reported that Chongqing Liyan Culture Media, a company affiliated with Crystal Yuan, was fined 978,000 RMB for tax evasion.The violation period was between 2019 and 2021.Reportedly, the company used corporate funds to pay for shareholders' expenditures unrelated to the operation of the company; an amount totaling 8.15 million RMB.According to Sina Entertainment, that amount should have been accounted for as a dividend not an expense,which means the company should have withheld and remitted around 1.6 million RMB worth of taxes (at 20 percent rate).They did not, so they were fined 60 percent of the amount or 978,000 RMB.While the company was fined in June, Crystal resigned as the company's legal representative and executive director in July.Crystal Yuan Studio issued a statement yesterday to apologize saying that have deeply reflected on the matter and actively cooperated with the rectification.The company has paid the money in a timely manner, and hereby apologizes to the public for taking up resources.
