New research shows that elevated levels of a specific biomarker in the brainmay increase chances for suicide attempts in people who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.UPI reports that researchers discovered people who suffer with both PTSDand suicidal thoughts have higher levels of metabotropic glutamatergic receptor 5 in their brainscompared to those without suicidal thoughts. The study was published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.Researchers say testing for the marker could help identify patients at risk and prevent suicides.
