Chinese leader Xi Jinping has met with the current chair of the African Union here in Beijing.The talks between Xi Jinping and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma come following the fifth China-AU strategic dialogue here in Beijing.Xi Jinping has issued a statement,promising China will continue to support the development of Africa.The Chinese leader says China will remain as a reliable friend and faithful partner of African countries,saying China always regards the Africa Union as a reliable strategic partner as well.For her part, Dlamini-Zuma saysChina is an important strategic partner in Africa's push for modernization and sustainable development.The AU chief is also vowing more cooperation with the Chinese side.Conservative Nicos Anastasiades is going to face left-wing candidate Stavros Malas in a run-off vote for the presidency of Cyprus.Anastasiades has garnered just over 45-percent of the vote in this weekend's vote.Malas gained just under 27-percent support.Independent candidate George Lillikas gained nearly 25-percent.The runoff is scheduled for Sunday.The new president, who will succeed outgoing left-wing president Demetris Christofias,will be faced with the task of negotiating a bail out deal to avert bankruptcy.
