A senior Communist Party of China official saysthe country hopes Japan's ruling parties can bring bilateral ties back on the right track.Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee,made the comment when meeting in Bejing with Natsuo Yamaguchi, leader of the New Komeito party,the smaller of Japan's two ruling parties.The Liberal Democratic Party is the other one.Wang noted that strengthening the two countries' mutually strategic relationsis in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples.Yamaguchi said the New Komeito party is willing to help improve bilateral relations through friendly exchanges with the CPC.The Japanese Coast Guard is said to have turned back a Taiwan fishing boat and four coast guard ships in the middle of a trip to the Diaoyu Islands.The boat was taking a statue of a sea goddess to the islands, with the four ships guarding it.This is the latest incident since Sino-Japanese tensions boiled over after Japan's so-called purchase of the Diaoyu Islands last September.Japan went ahead with the move despite strong opposition from the Chinese government as well as the local Taiwan authorities.
