A Chinese marine surveillance fleet has continued patrolling national territorial waters around the Diaoyu Islands on Monday.According to a statement from the State Oceanic Administration,the vessels have been monitoring Japanese ships which are said to be in violation of China's territorial waters.The 3 vessels are said to have followed the Japanese ships,and demanded their immediate departure - declaring Chinese sovereignty over the Islands.China says it will strengthen national defence education with a focus on safeguarding its maritime rights.The national defence education office saidthe protection of maritime rights and interests, as well as national security in general,will be highlighted in defence education for this year.Defense education will be included in teaching plans for elementary and secondary schools across the nationin order to make defence knowledge more universal.The office saidmore efforts were needed to promote defence education in coastal regions as well as ethnic minority areas along China's border.
