Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is calling on members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations,plus China,Japan and South Korea for more regional cooperation.Addressing the ASEAN+3 summit, Wen Jiabao has suggested there needs to be more of a focus on development.In particular, the Chinese premier called on countries in the regionto speed up the revision of the ChiangMai Initiative Multilateral-ization, which is a regional currency swap arrangement.Wen Jiabao also called on leaders to strengthen policy coordination to facilitate customs clearance and movement of people.The latest ASEAN summit will close later today.The UN Security Council is having a meeting over the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.The meeting behind closed doors is designed to narrow the differences and reach an agreement on how to respond collectively to the issue.Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr says Egypt is in communication with the Israeli side on a truce bid,and the results would be seen within days.Amr made the remarks after meeting with visiting UN chief Ban Ki-moon in Cairo.Israeli airstrikes in Gaza are reported to have killed over 100 Palestinians and wounded nearly 800 others since Wednesday.Three Israelis have been killed by rockets fired from Gaza.
