Chinese special envoy to the Middle East Wu Sike says trying to solve the Syria crisis with military means will only make the situation worse.Wu made the comments after meeting with Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor in Jerusalem.He also said that if well implemented, the cease-fire proposed by international special envoy Lakhdar Brahimi,would be a good start for a political solution to the crisis.Wu Sike is scheduled to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat.He will also travel to the United States.Syrian President Bashar al-Assad says he supports the efforts of special envoy Lakhdar Brahimi.At a meeting in Damascus with the international envoy,al-Assad said his country was open to all sincere efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.Assad said any initiative or political process should be based on stopping terrorismas well as stopping countries allegedly involved from providing funds to the rebel groups.Brahimi had proposed a cease-fire during the Muslim holiday, Eid, which begins October 26th.Assad however did not take any specific stance towards the cease-fire proposal.A range of countries, including Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Germany, have thrown their support behind the idea.
