Voice 2: And now it is time for our Spotlight Language Hodgepodge. Today we tell some idioms. Idioms can be words, sentences or expressions. However the individual words have a different meaning from the sentence. A famous idiom is:
声音2：现在是重点报道“语言大杂烩”版块的时间。今天我们要讲一些习语。习语可以是单词、句子或短语。然而，单个单词的意思与句子不同。一个著名的习语是：
Voice 1: "Hold your horses!"
声音1：“别着急！”
Voice 2: This idiom is not talking about horses. People use this expression to tell people to slow down, to wait, or stop! "Hold your horses!" This expression used to relate to using horses as transport. Or even to holding a horse in battle. "Hold your horses" meant "stop where you are going!"
声音2：这个习语与马无关。人们用这个表达让其他人放慢速度，等待一会儿，或者停下！“别着急！”这个短语过去与将马用作交通工具有关。甚至是在战斗中牵着一匹马。Hold your horses的意思是“停下你的脚步！”
Voice 1: Often unless you know idioms, there is no real way to understand them. You just have to learn them!
声音1：一般来说，除非你知道习语，否则没有真正的方法去理解它们。你只要学会就行了！
Voice 5: "Do not be a back seat driver!"
声音5：“不要指手划脚！”
Voice 2: This idiom is not talking about cars or driving! It means that a person is trying to take control when they should not be. It is like trying to drive a car from the back seat! Another well known idiom is:
声音2：这个习语与汽车或开车无关！它的意思是某人试图在不应由其控制事情时去掌控局面。这就像试图从后座开车一样！另一个众所周知的习语是：
Voice 5: "There is a fat chance of that!"
声音5：“可能性很小！”
Voice 2: It means, there is little chance of something happening. There is a fat chance people will want to learn idioms about horses or back seat driving!
声音2：这句话的意思是，事情发生的可能性很小。人们想学习与马或后座驾驶有关的习语的可能性很小！
